Maria Zegarac, Executive Director

Maria is dedicated to fostering a collaborative work culture where uniqueness and diversity are embraced and celebrated.  Her passion to be the voice of and advocate on behalf of the most vulnerable community members has been the driving force behind her commitment to the not-for-profit sector.  

Maria is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has held senior roles in various social service organizations focused on providing support to vulnerable community members.  She brings a strong governance background which was attained both in supporting Boards and serving on various Boards over her career.  

Maria believes in leading with purpose and inspiring an excellence in service delivery with the goal of remaining person centred in all organizational decision making.

Jaime Edge, Director of Operations and Administration

Jaime Edge began her journey at Hopewell as the Director of Operations and Administration in March of 2020.  Prior to this role, Jaime has dedicated her entire career to the Developmental Services sector and has been in Leadership roles for over a decade.  She has extensive experience with supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, dual diagnoses, and behavioral challenges.  Her passion and commitment to providing the highest quality of care to the individuals supported is the driving force behind her daily work. 

Jaime’s leadership style has been described as collaborative, supportive, and transformational.  She offers an individualized and customized support style to the Leadership Team in order to collectively meet the overall Vision, Mission and Values of Hopewell. 

Julie Vail, Director of People and Culture

Julie is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and Certified Human Resources

Leader (CHRL) with more than 20+ years of experience in operational and transformational HR.  For the past 15 years, Julie has held several senior HR leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector working in social service organizations that provide health care, mental health, and other support services that positively enhance the lives of vulnerable persons served.

As our Director of People & Culture, and a strong advocate of values-based organizations, Julie is actively engaged, focused, and committed to organizational growth and development by supporting a diverse workplace and positive workplace culture where people feel respected, protected, and connected to each other. Under Julie’s leadership our HR strategic objectives include strategies for recruitment and retention, workplace health and wellness and investing in the development of the next generation of organizational leaders.

Bob Polovniak, Finance Manager

Bob is a Chartered Professional Accountant and joined Hopewell part time in July 2019 after a lengthy career in Accounting /Finance.   Bob has help various senior finance lead roles with the last eight years focused on working for smaller organizations in a full/part time basis assisting in a variety of general accounting, finance, and strategic planning duties.
